Tall boots usually look better than they feel. These do both: an elegant knee-high line with a foot-shaped inside, a flexible sole and no raised heel to tip you forward.

An elegant silhouette that lets your foot work
Knee-high boots are a winter staple and, traditionally, one of the least comfortable. A narrow toe, a rigid shaft and a raised heel are a lot to ask of a foot for a whole day. Barefoot tall boots keep the line and rework everything else. The toe box is anatomically wide, so your toes spread instead of stacking. The sole is flat and flexible, so your foot bends as you walk. And with no heel lift, your weight stays where your body expects it — which is why these stay comfortable long after a heeled boot would have come off.
Charlotte and Sierra are the tall models in the range, both in leather and both built for city winters.

Styling and fit
Tall boots work with dresses, skirts and tights, and with jeans or leggings tucked in. Black and brown are the versatile choices, and a simple shaft is easier to wear than a heavily detailed one.
Shaft fit matters as much as length here. Check the calf measurement on the size chart, and remember that a winter boot is usually worn over thicker socks or tights. Your toes should not touch the front, and your heel should sit securely without lifting as you walk. For a shorter silhouette, see ankle boots and high tops and Chelsea boots. For deep cold and snow, winter boots and snow boots.

Leather through a winter
Let boots dry naturally after a wet day, away from radiators and direct heat, and brush off road salt the same day rather than letting it dry into the leather. A wax a few times a season keeps the material supple; a water-repellent spray handles rain and slush. See shoe care for the right products.

Are tall barefoot boots warm enough for winter?
+ -For city winters, yes — the tall shaft covers your leg and leather blocks wind well. How warm they feel depends on the lining, which is listed on each model page. Because the toe box is roomy, there is space for a thicker wool sock, which does more for warmth than most people expect. For deep snow and hard frost, snow boots are the better choice.
How do I know if they will fit my calves?
+ -Check the shaft circumference on the size chart for the model and measure the widest part of your calf. Factor in what you will wear underneath — tights, thick socks or jeans all change the fit. If you are between measurements, the larger size usually wears more comfortably over a winter.
Do they have a heel?
+ -No. Barefoot tall boots are zero drop, which means the heel and the forefoot sit at the same height. If you normally wear a heeled boot, expect a short adjustment period: your calves have adapted to a raised heel and need a little time to lengthen.
Are tall boots waterproof?
+ -Quality leather handles rain, slush and city snow well, particularly when treated regularly with a water-repellent spray. They are not built for standing in deep snow. Reapply the spray two or three times a season and always after a real soaking.
